A Relaxing Weekend at Gatsrivier

It was my fiancé’s birthday and instead of having a party we decided to pack our bags and head to Gatsrivier Holiday Farm for the weekend which is located close to the Breede River.
This lovely place has ample secluded camping spots. This was perfect as we enjoy our privacy, there are however camping spots which are meant for groups of people, be sure to book one that isn’t otherwise you might end up too close to a fellow group of campers. It has very clean bathrooms and there are ten 4x4 tracks on the farm.
There are also lots of koppies to climb and we took an awesome hike on the Saturday morning after arriving on Friday evening.
That morning we noticed a radio tower very high up on the mountain with a road leading up to it. Thus, after returning from our hike, we packed some supplies in the Fortuner and headed up the mountain to have a late lunch at the top. The road there didn’t disappoint. It was an awesome bumpy ride all the way there.
In the evening we made potjie and watched a glorious sunset, thoroughly content with the world. We then prepped for our potjie and settled in around the campfire with for a few drinks.
Gatsrivier is a great place and we highly recommend heading there for a quiet weekend away.
